Today is the first day that I spent exclusively with my parents. It was so serene that I ended up sleeping all day

Exciting news coming up...stay tuned...

Day 15 - Shopping

I went out today for shopping and eating out. I have been getting lots of gifts, and Myma has been feeding me well. So, I didn't feel like shopping or eating out. I took a rain check this time, but you know...it's just a matter of time.

I enjoyed the visit of uncle Josh and aunt Meredith. It felt so cozy when they held me. I slipped into deeper and deeper sleep. They were amused by how tiny I was. I found that they also have a Wii at home. I look forward to playing some games on-line with them, and also off-line when they visit me next. (BTW, happy birthday uncle Josh. Thanks for the gift. Myma and I love it a lot).

Day 14 - Meeting my folks online and offline

It has been a good weekend so far. I video conferenced with my paternal grand parents. This was the first time they were watching me on-line. I was very thrilled. I am really looking forward to their visit.

In the evening, Vikram uncle, Manju aunty and her brother came to visit me from NY. I played with them for about 2 hours. They were really amused by how attentive I am to the camera. They think I will become a model, but I have other plans though. I was hoping that they will stay back for dinner. But, you know Vikram uncle - he makes lots of plans...I think he needs to take a break and chill out some time (like me).

Ok more later. I got to go for shopping today, and meet my grand parents on-line.

Days 13 and 14 - My second weekly birthday

Hey...It's my second weekly birthday. I got a gift too....

Did you get what it is...It's the pacifier. My ped told Myma that I can get one. If you have any suggestions on how best to use this pacifier, please write it the comments.

My maternal grand parents left yesterday. My grand father's father expired. So, they had to leave at a very short notice. I will miss them dearly.

On the brighter side, my paternal grand parents are going to visit me in few more days. I am looking forward to their visit. It's kind of lonely without the grand parents.

Day 12 - Guess me !

Any guess on why I have such an expression in the photo below? If you are baby friendly, you would know the answer right away.

I went to my pediatrician for my week 2 visit. Thankfully, everything is going fine. I am gaining an ounce of weight each day. If you haven't visited me yet, you may want to visit me soon. Otherwise, you may not be able to carry me.

Days 8-11: I am okay

Dear Readers,

Sorry for the long absense. I know it felt like ages for this edition to come out. Some of you sent emails too. I haven't been busy, but quite a bit lazy. Looks like I am inhereting mypa's qualities.

Last few days, I spent most of my time learning how to mumble. I do it mostly in the night to put mypa and myma to sleep. For some reason, it hasn't been working out. They keep waking up to check on me.

Mypa traveled out of town on work. He went to some warmer place that made me feel jealous. I came to this world only 10 days ago, and he already missed 1 day (10%) of the fun so far. I am so upset with him about it. He tried to please me, and got his hair cut to make it look more like mine. I don't know if I believe him, but I posed for a picture with him -

I recently got hold of my elder cousin (Samvi)'s photo. I think we look alike. Don't you agree?

I chatted with my elder aunty (Samvi's mom) few days ago. It was lot of fun. I missed talking to Samvi.

That's all for now. I will try not be lazy, and will be back tomorrow with some more exciting content.

Day 7 - My first weekly birthday

Can't believe that I already completed my first week. Time passes so quickly. I have a feeling that I may be getting old now. Before I grew any older, I decided to celebrate my first weekly birthday. Celebrations started with getting dressed, and then spending some quality family time - with my maternal grand parents and my uncle Ravi:

Then, I met Diya Didi, her parents, and her grand ma. Didi Diya was very playful and engaging. We were both excited at seeing each other -

I had good time with Arun uncle and Satya aunty. Arun uncle told me that we can play Wii on-line with each other (We both love our Wiis). Diya didi and I liked Satya aunty's gold chain, and we look forward to buy/beg/steal it from her some time in near future :-)

Mypa's childhood friend, Ajay also took part in these celebrations. He just came from his Yoga lessons. I wanted to ask him if he can make his forehead touch his knees as well as I can, but I didn't want to embarass him. So, I just smiled while he carried me around (as the clouds passed by in the background).
Mypa's work buddies (Camels, Elephants, Eagles) also took part in my celebrations. They just couldn't believe how little I was. I look forward to meeting few more of mypa's work buddies (specifically Oz.).
Hey girls, there are 5 eligible and friendly and adorable bachelors in these photos. If you are interested in any (or many) of them, let me know. I will set you up with them.
So, that's all for now. That's the end of the glorious first week,
-Saahithi

Day 6 - Thank God, it's Friday

Ah..what a week it has been...~15 poops, ~60 pees and ~50 feeding sessions...just over the past 5 days...I am glad that the week is over.

So, I partied yesterday night. Drank more - almost at an hour interval, slept late, and had to postpone writing this blog to today. See my photo below as I demanded an extra drink -

Ok more later..I am trying to get out of my hang over...

Day 5 - Baby's Day Out

Chicago weather is turning good these days. It was 60 F today. So, I ventured out into the wild world. I got into my car seat, put on my cool look and went out. I rode for a mile and stopped by my pediatrician to say hello. I discovered that I regained most of the weight I lost after birth. The doc confirmed something I already knew - that I am on track. No vaccines yet. So, I didn't have to cry. Myma and Mypa were worried about my hiccoughs and heavy breathing. The doc told that it's normal, specially for C-section babies. I wish I worked little harder during my birth.

Anyways, I am back home. Chatted with my cousin on yahoo. Had a feast of milk for half an hour....zzzZZZ

Day 4 - Eat/Sleep or Graduate?

Guess what...

You may be tempted to think that I graduated today. No..The cute girl you see in this image is my cousin - Avani. We video conferenced today using yahoo messenger. She is soooooo sweet. She told me that she loves me and she misses me. I also love her and miss her very much. She is visiting me next month. We are looking forward to spend a month or so together.

Rest of my day, I spent in eating, sleeping and sun bathing to make my own Vitamin D. I did some surfing around and noticed that few other bloggers have begun to create links to my blog. Check our Roshan uncle's blog - Camels and Elephants

Got to go now...More eating and sleeping to catch up.

Day 3 - Home sweet home!!!

Past couple of days in the hospital were very nice. My room had amazing Lake Michigan views, very friendly staff and doctors, and a free WiFi for me to blog.

I was discharged from hospital today. I am now out into the big world. Mypa drove me and myma home safely. Here is the picture while we were entering home -
Today, Ravi uncle flew from far west to visit me.
Regarding the visitors yesterday, Ray uncle was the only one to answer the question correctly. The White Sox players in the photo were - Joseph Crede and Scott Linebrink. You can click on the links to find out their information. Below are few more photos with my visitors -

Day 2 - Lots of visitors

You guys and gals are awesome - for taking time out of your busy life to visit my blog and me in person. We both share the skill of multi-tasking. Isn't it fun to stay connected this way. Let us keep doing this. I will keep this updated, and you can continue to write some comments.

Sorry for the delay in today's post. I had a packed day with lots of visitors. All the visits started when Manoj uncle and Poonam aunty visited me two days ago. I had good time in the hands of Poonam aunty. I tried to persuade Manoj uncle to hold me with my cute smiles, but looks like it didn't quite work out. I will try harder next time. Then, Sankash uncle visited me next. He was very friendly and quite charming.

Today, two Chicago White Sox players visited me - I am not kidding. I know you guys don't believe me yet. How can a little girl start writing a blog on day 0, lift her head on day 1, and then meet two celebrities on day 2. Here is the proof. I am good at techie things, but this picture is real (not some computer graphic manipulation).

They brought a present too - Nice bed sheet with a SOX logo. They even gave autographs on it. Now that you believe in what I am saying, here is a question for you - Can you name these two celebrities? If you can't guess, please check back tomorrow.

This evening, I had four more lovely people visit me - Indy uncle, Sorja aunty, Priyan uncle and Aparna autny. They all were so adorable, but I was lazy and continued to sleep. My dad tried to wake me. I felt a bit irritated, but woke up to discover how sweet my visitors were. I missed meeting little Sharonya as the hospital policy didn't allow kids to visit me. Mypa says that she is very cute. I look forward to learning a thing or two from her.

That was my day so far. Mypa, Myma and I continue to have tons of fun.

See you all tomorrow,
Namaste,

Day 1 - Making Progress

Welcome back.

Thank you all for the wishes and for writing comments on this blog. If you hadn't read my day zero blog, please scroll down to catch up. I know it is a weekend, and mypa says that most people like to browse when they are back in the office.

I finished my first day on this lovely planet. I think I made quite a bit of progress - started drinking milk on my own, learnt to rotate my neck, and even lifted my head a bit (not kidding - please see below for my photo). My mom is also making good progress. She is now able to walk again. Even mypa made some progress. He cut his sleep time from 8 hours a day to 2 hours a day. That's a 75% improvement. Congrats Dad. He is now putting his extra 6 hours in playing with me and in taking care of me.

Today, I wore a special dress. It's the dress that my mom wore when she was born 20+ years ago. Thanks to my grand parents for saving it. You can see me wearing the dress while I was doing the magical feat of lifting my head (in the photo attached below).

Ok..more later. The attending nurse wants to check my vital signs. So, I got to go.

Namaste,

Hello World

Yes. I am here. I am born today at 6:58 AM CST (5:28 PM IST) on Saturday, Apr 12.

It was quite a journey - womb to world. I tried the laborious way first, but ended up with the C-section. It wasn't easy - neither for me nor for my mom. We are both glad that it's over.

I spent last 9 months in the most protected environment - my mom's womb. It was cozy and warm. In contrast, this world looks much larger and a little cold. I can kick my legs freely. I can put my lungs to work. I can smile and cry to my heart's joy.

I saw my mom and dad for the first time, and we just couldn't stop talking and staring for a loooooong time. I think they love me a lot. They told me that I am a 6 lb 15 Oz (3.16 kg) bundle of joy with 20 inch (50.8 cm) height.

I had fun with my maternal grand parents too. I still have to meet my paternal grand parents, my aunts & uncles, my cousins and of course, all of you.

Today is my Zeroth birthday. I celebrated it at the Prentice Hall of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. There were no candles though. I was told that Zeroth birthday implies Zero candles. It's time for rules to be rewritten. Isn't it?

Well...I got tons of things to catch up. I got a whole life to plan ahead. So, I am signing off now.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Please scroll below for some of my photos and Videos. I plan to update this daily. So, please keep visiting. Also, don't forget to write your wishes and blessings by clicking the "Comments" link at the bottom.

Looking forward to meeting you all. You can visit me at my hospital anytime from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

Namaste,
-Saahithi

A brief video...

A little note to my family in my mother tongue -
